Before you start playing, there are some differences between the live dealer solutions that you should know about. They can make a big difference in where you choose to play.
And the best part is: You can play live blackjack on mobile at selected live casinos.
What to look for?
Unlike land-based casinos, there are two kinds of live dealer blackjack:
7 Seat Blackjack – seven players can play at the table at the same time. Sometimes you can occupy more than one seat at the table (multi-seat). At busy times, it can be difficult to get a seat on 7-seater tables with low to mid stakes. So here you can advantageously choose a casino with dedicated tables.
Unlimited or Common Draw Blackjack – here one or more players are dealt cards that an unlimited number of players can place bets on. This game form is typically used as a solution for players who cannot find a seat at a 7-seater table but still want to play.
You should also keep an eye on:
The number of playing cards in play, which can range from 6 – 8 playing cards.
Some games have European or Vegas rules (where the dealer takes one or two cards in the preliminary slot).
Game options during the game may vary, which can affect your ability to raise bets at key times.
You may want to make some, all or no blackjack page efforts.
The effect of these differences
In relation to the reimbursement to players, the providers would like you to believe the regular reimbursement to players is 99.5%, although Evolution Gaming publishes it at 99.28%.
For us who just love to play blackjack live, that means everything.
Small things, like being able to double without any restrictions, can make a big difference to the amount you can win/lose in one hand. Being able to improve one’s bets as the cards evolve, by splitting or double, is a key element of the game and something we don’t think should be limited when we are perfecting our perfect blackjack strategies.

Live blackjack in detail
As we mentioned before, not all live blackjack games are the same. There are some common elements such as blackjack giving 3: 2 and insurance paying out 2: 1.
This is largely where the common elements stop as each of the live casino platform providers has developed their own rules of play. Although most of all live casino games in the UK only offer live blackjack software from game provider Evolution Gaming. The UK live casino market is still quite young compared to others.
NOTE: We are constantly updating this page so that when we find more providers you will be able to see their comparison here.
There are generally two versions of live dealer blackjack.
7 Seat Blackjack
This is more the traditional game with seven seats at the table. You play with other players, and it’s basically the same game as at land-based casinos.
You make your initial bet and the live dealer gives all players two cards. Depending on the rules, the dealer will take one or two cards. The dealer then manages each player in turn and plays their hand until they stand or bust. The dealer is the last person to play his hand, and when he/she completes the hand, anyone who has defeated the dealer will receive their winnings.
Things you should know
There are some obvious issues with 7-seat blackjack, especially when offering this over the Internet to an almost unlimited number of players.
The seven slots fill up quickly, so the live casino operators have four options available to give players better access to play:
They set up more tables – it becomes expensive as the tables require space and more dealers. Providers, like Evolution, have hundreds of tables spread across many studios that help meet player demand. These tables are shared between the casinos and are therefore often very busy in the evening.
They buy dedicated tables for their players – the surroundings carry the casino’s fire, and only their players can use the tables. From the players’ point of view, this is very effective as you can usually get a seat at one of these tables. Of course, it is more expensive for the casino.
Bet Behind functionality – allows players without a seat to make a bet behind one of the player positions at the table. This hand is played by the player holding the slot. You, therefore, have no stake in the settlement of the hand. It is a risky thing to do so, so if you are tempted to play that way, you should choose a player who seems to have succeeded and used a common basic strategy (as an aid to your decision) some providers have added a number next to the player to show the number of hands won).
Offer another blackjack game that solves the quantity problem – here comes the Unlimited or Common Draw Blackjack into the picture.
Unlimited Blackjack or Common Draw Blackjack
This is a game where only one hand is given. It allows the casino to offer blackjack to an unlimited number of players. Each player plays the hand as if it were the player’s own. When all players have completed the hand, the dealer plays the hand and pays the winnings to the players who won.
There are a few differences in this version compared to 7 Seat Blackjack:
When a split occurs, you have two options:
Splitting the hand – doubles the bet and you play two hands.
To fold your hand – you get back some of your original deposit.
The dealer does not check for blackjack.
There may be one or more player positions – an unlimited number of players can play each position.
NOTE: Playtech, NetEnt and Visionary iGaming casinos have editions of Unlimited Blackjack. As of January 2020, ONLY LeoVegas is supporting this game with their NetEnt live casino platform.
You can play multiple seats/hands at the same 7-seater table. The number of hands you play is often limited. At busy times, casinos will disable this feature (6 pm – 1 am).
You can play multiple tables at the same time at the same casino. Several of the game user interfaces can have multi-table capability and can, therefore, display up to four tables on your screen at one time.
You can easily get a taste for games on multiple tables, so it may be a good idea to first look and test the look before going full-on. We think it is quite stressful and therefore only plays on one table at a time.
Special bets or side bets
Special side bets can be played together with the main hand and offered by most software providers. The reason why not everyone has this option is because of licenses. It costs a lot for the casinos to have them.
The most common side bet is Bet Behind, where you can place bets behind other players’ cards. The player plays the hand and you bet that the player will win over the dealer. This bet is quite popular if you are either waiting for a seat at a table or if a particular player is really good gambling and you are hoping to profit from this.
There are also Perfect Pairs where you bet that either you or the dealer’s hand is a pair. You guess your two cards and the dealer’s up card are a poker hand, for example. a flush, 3 of a kind or a straight.
Live blackjack dealers
One of the big differences in playing live dealer blackjack, and the difference between an average gaming session and a good session, is the dealer. You can choose to play at casinos that have:
European live dealers – they speak English or their native language and can be found at Evolution, Extreme Live Gaming, NetEnt, Media Live, Lucky Streak, Playtech and Ezugi casinos.
Latin live dealers – they speak Spanish and English and can be found at Ezugi, Global Gaming Labs, Vivo Gaming, Xpro Gaming and Visionary iGaming casinos.
Asian live dealers – they speak English and Chinese and are found primarily at Playtech casinos.
Don’t underestimate the dealer’s role in helping to create a great gaming experience. If you are a beginner, you can ask the dealer for advice and the rules of the game.
If you are a VIP live blackjack player and play big, high-risk amounts, then you want a professional live dealer who has good skills and does not interfere with your game with unnecessary talk. If you play blackjack live at a VIP table and are not happy with the dealer, you can ask the dealer to have the chat replaced.
4 recommendations before you start playing
Live dealer blackjack is undoubtedly our favourite table game, and by trying our way we have learned that there are many things that help create a really good game:
The casino that offers the game
If you’re a beginner, we recommend playing the original 7 Seat Live Blackjack at an online casino that offers software from Evolution Gaming. When you feel more comfortable, you can go ahead and check out the other games before heading all the way to Multi-Table Blackjack!
